Nigeria may have achieved some decent set of results
Nigeria may have achieved some decent set of results since Sunday Oliseh became the manager of the national team in July 2015.
However, he is yet to receive the widespread backing of fans due to various reasons. Nigerian midfielder Ogeny Onazi says that it is about time fans started giving some credit to the work done by the manager. He has also requested patience from the supporters ahead of big tournaments. Nigeria were once regarded as Africa’s best opportunity to create a major impact in international football. They were touted as one of the national team is capable of winning the World Cup one-day.
However, the team has regressed in recent years even though they recently won the Africa Cup of Nations.Oliseh became the national team boss after a career in punditry. It is believed thatOliseh’s management techniques has resulted in a couple of important players announcing international retirements much earlier than expected. Vincent Enyeama is one of the names who has recently pulled the plug on his international career after the appointment of the new manager. Nigeria have also found it difficult to score goals easily under the regime of the new manager. Due to such widespread issues,Oliseh has not received the same support as other managers.
“Nigerians are wonderful people but in some cases, they are too quick to judge. Sunday Oliseh is a good coach and is like a father to us; he is technically sound and he tells you exactly how it is, no matter who you are. Nigerians have to be patience and he is going to give Nigeria what they want. It was a very important victory as a country. We played in Swaziland and played a goalless draw; it was a good game even though we had our challenges,” saidOnazi.
