Nigeria faces Egypt in a decisive match
Nigeria will have to beat Egypt in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Egypt leads the table with 2 points and with only the group winner qualifying for Gabon 2017, it is important that Nigeria wins this game.
However, things have not gone really well off the pitch for the Super Eagles. Indeed, they will have their third coach in less than a year to manage them. They began the qualification with Stephen Keshi, who oversaw the 2-0 win over Chad. The latter was then replaced with Sunday Oliseh, who lasted for a little more than seven months. Now they have a new manager in Samson Siasia and hope that he will be able to lead them to next year Africa Cup of Nations.
The first thing that SIasia has done is to name John Obi Mikel as the team captain. This is not a bad choice since the Chelsea player is arguably the most experienced player in the current squad. He has so far made 72 appearances for Nigeria.
Nigeria had a difficult game in their previous match against Tanzania and Samson Siasia will demand an improvement by his players. They only managed a draw last time and, this time, they will need to win if they want to keep their chances of making it to the finals. There will be a couple of first-choice players that will be missing this match through injuries and suspensions. It will be up to the new Nigeria coach to choose a team that will be able to win the game for the Super Eagles.
Just like Nigeria, Egypt has also missed the previous Africa Cup of Nations and would want to make up for the lost time. This promise to be an exciting match with two of the best African footballing nations playing against each other.
