Gernot Rohr wants Players to Assemble for Training Camp by Sunday
Nigeria national team coachGernot Rohr has instructed all his players to get into the training camp before Sunday.
Only Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses have been given exception from this list, as the duo will be involved in Premier League football on Sunday with their respective clubs. Nigeria are looking forward to the availability of at least five days to train the players and to work out on the various strategies. Nigeria are preparing for the upcoming game against Cameroon. The opening two matches of the World Cup qualification group B has seen Nigeria take a sizeable advantage after back-to-back wins.
Zambia and Algeria were comfortably overcome by Nigeria, but Cameroon represents the biggest test in the group stages. Cameroon, though, have made a disappointing start after only managing draws against both these opponents. Hence, confidence is not high within the visitors, butRohr is not taking any chances. The likes of Jon obi Mikel are playing in Chinese football and they are expected to be one of the first names to arrive into the training camp.
The first match of this international break will see Nigeria take on Cameroon in back-to-back games. The home match against Zambia occurs only in October followed by an away game against Algeria in November.
“Every player is expected to arrive Abuja at the weekend with the exception of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi, who will be playing (for their respective clubs) on Sunday. They will join up with the team in Uyo on Monday latest. We know that in these two games, we need at least three points and the best is to get it in the first game. To win the games, I think we have a team which is stronger than the last time with more experience because three other key players are back now,” said Rohr.
